 Kayemba Kalema's journey from a troubled childhood to a successful civil engineer and philanthropist serves as the cornerstone of Hope Children's Foundation's mission. Raised in a polygamous family in Uganda, Kayemba experienced firsthand the harsh realities of poverty, neglect, and tragedy. Despite facing unimaginable challenges, he made a promise to himself to help others in similar circumstances. Hope Children's Foundation began as a Village Self Help Group (VSHG) in 1999, initiated by Kayemba Kalema and three other individuals, Nansumba Prossy and Nkuuwe Edward, along with the support of Lumansi Moses. With a humble beginning of three children in need, our foundation has grown into a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable children, orphans, street kids, Youth and young adults across various districts in Uganda, including Kampala, Wakiso, Mubende, Kasanda, Gomba, and now extending our services into the West Nile region, including refugee camps.

To create a brighter future for the marginalized, we established Kigoma Adventist Academy in 2008, with the generous support of Kigoma Adventist Church. However, in 2014, our lease expired, leading us to establish Exodus Junior School in Wakiso District, catering to underprivileged children, street kids, refugee children, and orphans. Despite facing challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and funding constraints, our commitment to the cause remains unwavering.

Core Challenges:

1. Inadequate Facilities: We face challenges with inadequate classrooms and hostels to accommodate the growing number of children under our care.
2. Educational Opportunities: After completing primary education, many children face barriers to accessing higher levels of education due to limited funds for sponsorship.
3. Sanitation: We lack essential sanitation facilities, posing health risks to the children we serve.

Despite these challenges, we remain steadfast in our mission to empower the marginalized and provide them with the support they need to thrive.
